sunday, sunday

40/365

we woke up to wild, loud wind and rain this morning! outside of the phone ringing at 3inthedamndarkmorning, these are sounds you do not want awakening you! we have a well insulated attic and double pane windows AND interior wooden plantation shutters, so for the sound of wind, rain and lest i forget, thunder to be audible inside...that stuff was loud!  the trees outside the bedroom window somewhat obscure the sky, but the flashes of lightening are always just a bit scary.

the rain finally stopped around 11ish and to look outside now, you'd never know how insane the storm had been.  well, except for the fallen branches, all small thankfully, and  tons of leaves. i haven't ventured off the plantation so far, but the MITM and The Doc had to run some errands and they didn't notice any downed trees or flooding.

Big Shelly and Miss K are back from their whirlwind tour of quite a few states or 3,000 mile journey around the south and midwest.  as Miss K said, it was so much fun, she forgot to take pictures! they were living in the moment and having a blast.  they also found some fantastic antique shops during their travels, too, and i have a stunning copper planter filled with succulents to prove it! (they give really, really good gifts!) i'm glad they're home because we have some really good wine that needs drinking sharing.

    1. the wine is always fun, sugar. storms in the southeast have their own beauty, not the damage they can generate, of course, but the intensity and variety of weather you can experience at any given moment. storms in the desert have that same sort of monumentality. xoxoxox

  5. Sorry about that, hit 'Publish' too soon.

    *holds out glass*

We don't get wild rain here in the UK. Occasionally, it gets a bit blowy. But on the whole the weather here is polite, if a bit grey.

In a way, I miss the wild rain.

    1. the thing that bothers me the most now is knowing that one of the trees in front of the house really should be removed...the wind is not my friend! but, yeah, daytime storms are much more rewarding! xoxoxo

  8. Daisy beat me to it. What's better than being all cozy under the covers and listening to a hell-raising storm going on outside (hurricanes excluded)? It's the best.

    1. absolutely true, except when the person next to you is sound asleep and snoring like a chainsaw looking for tree to take down! *sigh* then it's a tiny bit more infuriating xoxoox

  9. And after it left you that storm came to us! WOW! I looked at Hubby and asked, "Well, we went from winter to spring to fall again in a month...has hurricane season arrived early?" Glad you only had little limbs down too.

I'm sure your pals have wonderful stories to share...don't let me keep you from them. (Or sharing that wine) ;)
