he's in the free zone of benghazi. the mood there is joyous! we'll have more news later. keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE: the MITM, along with his colleagues, are on a turkish ship that will soon set sail for anatolia.

they are going to antalya i wrote it out as i heard it, but what's interesting is anatolia is the historic name for turkey ...

location, location, location

by now, most of you have figured out where the MITM is, but as mr. moose said, i can't put all my bidness out in the street, so we'll leave it at that. (yes, i am just that paranoid about stuff!) i can, however, say that the MITM is more than 600km away from the madness and he, along with his men and a few hundred other expats, are watching events unfold via satellite tv. i was able to speak to him again today (funny how my days seem to start at 01h00 or so now) and the first thing he did was make ME laugh! i guess he could "see" the tears of relief already starting to form just from hearing his voice so clearly again. no one has any idea how long they will be there or when travel will be safe, but everyone is okay.

a break from combat breathing for a moment or two.

Minimize Movements

This Warden Message is to advise U.S. citizens of the deteriorating
security situation throughout XXXXX, including XXXXXXX.  There is a
strong possibility of further violence and looting.  There are
continuing protests and violence ongoing in XXXXX, including XXXXXXX.
U.S. citizens are urged to depart XXXXX as soon as possible.  The
Department of State has authorized the voluntary departure from XXXXX of
the family members of U.S. Embassy staff.  U.S. citizens are urged to
exercise extreme caution when traveling, avoid non-essential travel,
minimize overall travel in-country, and to limit all travel after dark.
U.S. citizens not departing XXXXX should make preparations to shelter in
place. 

yesterday, i missed a call because i stepped outside! and now, i wait for emails, sms or a phone call. the last message i received came from a friend at 01h30 this morning who'd spoken with the MITM 10 minutes earlier. he said the MITM was safe and would be, inshallah, on a plane tomorrow. he has a ticket out, so a seat is confirmed.
