BIG NEWS!
2 absolutely marvelous things have happened to members of the coconut krewe in as many days!
captain chaos was director of photography on a music video!
super nana was just named teacher of the year at her school!
we're deliciously happy for them and hope y'all will share in our joy and wish them both well!
*happy dancing*
*wondering where they'll be taking us to dinner when we visit the other coast!*
*just kidding!*

The apple does not fall far from the tree. Of course they are talented and productive, they have had great role models. You both deserve to be proud of their accomplishments. You have make the world a better place and you talented offspring have done the same. High Fives all around and the drinks are on me for the cocktail hour. I say we extend the cocktail hour.

me and my big heart
need to:
see paris from the top of the eiffel tower.
walk along the appalachian trail.
dance in the street again.
feel the cool water of the pacific dance around my legs again.
walk in the french quarters in the quiet of a sunday morning.
walk through biltmore as if it were mine alone.
find nepenthe unchanged.
stand in the crowd for the edinburgh military tattoo.
see all of gaudi's buildings.
visit the falling water house outside of pittsburg.
spend as long as it takes to see everything in the smithsonian.
vacation on a houseboat in vancouver.
have a 12 point deer in my sight and simply enjoy the beauty.
wake up every morning with a POA.
anyway, it's a good thing to think about what you want to do and get busy living or get busy dying.

friday or TGIF, sugarpies!!
the UB posted a reality check today with a link to e-constructed a blogger who's new to me, but might be known to some of y'all already (convoluted sentence structure, i know), but a very good reminder of what we take for granted. give them both a read if y'all haven't already.
~~~~
this past week i happened to see a clip from "country at the white house" president obama hosted a few country singers, brad paisley, allison krauss & union station and singer, charlie pride. (nyt article if y'all want to read the review). i really liked this song brad paisley sang in the east room of the white house...
the inspiration for yesterday's post
this is the nyt article that got me thinking yesterday: brain as a co-conspirator in a vicious stress loop. it's a strange time for all of us around the world, so i know i am not unique.
this isn't a whine or a rant.
it is just a reminder...
life is short, eat dessert first!
the meds made me do it...
did y'all know e@l was one of the first bloggers to suggest that i start my own blog because i was hogging his comment section? (no, not really...) anyway, from his site, i found another blogger carl and that's who i nicked this from! i also found the link to the guys who made it and others as funny and creative!
so, have fun, enjoy the show and have a delicious weekend! i might come back later and post some photos the MITM took today. or not, it is 1525h now and i can't find the card reader anyway. so, maybe it'll be tomorrow. which really does make more sense. to me anyway.
just so you know, i'm taking 4 different medications for this particular bout of bronchitis! who knew? i'm just glad the MITM came home before this all kicked in hard and heavy. best part though, the drink is not contraindicated!
music and science and love
mr. moose sent us this and i thought i'd share it will all y'all!
~~~~~~~
the MITM arrived safely tuesday evening and for a change, so did his luggage! of course, yesterday it rained like a mofo here and we're looking at heavy rains, thunderstorms and possible flooding into the weekend. he's just happy to be home and out of deepestdarkestafrica. the storms he experienced before he left the other continent are now slowing making their way across the atlantic to the eastern seaboard as tropical depressions with the possibility of turning into hurricanes.* we'll see.
so, there we are music and science and...
love...
i still cry when i catch my first glimpse of the MITM at the airport, our family is again all in the same country, he's healthy, i don't have pneumonia, just bronchitis (and lots of good drugs), miss daisy is well and the plantation is running even more smoothly again!
and yes, eryl, he's planning really, really good meals again!
*point of clarification: the possibility of hurricanes coming ashore is a week off, if they do, in fact, form. we're in no immediate danger. not to worry, miss scarlet!

day 7 or what to do when it's oven hot outside!
remember i told all y'all about wanting to set up the bonus room/upstairs finished attic room into an office/guest room? well, i'm starting that project today. the one thing that will probably not get done is purging the file boxes and then filling the two file cabinets we purchased 6 months ago. i'll post some before and after photos later today. it's 0620hrs and already 75˚ outside. i should go walk now...

happy friday!
i'll be back later!
1700hrs question:
did anyone experience problems with blogger today? as in, google denying entry and having the nerve to tell you we're sorry, but you can't come in and infect all of us! go away?

so, that happened
the suggestions for getting rid of the blue meanies were most appreciated. of course, i did have to explain to Himself what yesterday's second post was all about. but, aside from that, the song is true, what a difference a day makes. there is one thing i cannot do, or rather, more truthfully, i will not do.
i will NOT give up coffee.
not for a day.
and definitely, not for a week.
the MITM is bringing back some 100% arabica from deepestdarkestafrica! i will, however, NOT drink an entire carafe of coffee by myself anymore. i promise you!
so, thank you again. i appreciate it! and all y'all more than y'all know.
now, it's back to driving miss daisy.

(somecards has a card for every occasion!)

and then you blow it all
yes, it's true, i totally lost it today.
i let a small thing turn into a big thing and in the process, blindsided someone who was, in her defense, only partially culpable. fortunately, it was a disagreement that was work related, not personal. it could and should have been settled after the meeting without any fuss. but it wasn't. i was right to raise the issue, but i went about it in the wrong manner. i apologized after the meeting. she accepted my apology and admitted that perhaps, she had misunderstood as well.
but, here's the bad side, i knew 5 seconds into my public argument, i was not as vehemently concerned with the subject at hand as it might have appeared. yes, a classic case of transference overlaid with extreme fatigue and stress. i could see the surprise in her face and i still couldn't stop myself. i was going to go in for the kill shot and take my prize! the imposition of my will was at stake. it is not nice. this is what happens: my voice gets lower, i become steely in my composure, and i have been told, it is not the visage of mercy or benevolence. it is useful at times, but it was overkill today.
and it was wrong.
i came home.
washed my face
and went to sleep out of complete exhaustion.
writing this here is the last act of expiation.
thank you for reading.
i'll see all y'all tomorrow, ok?

another chance to begin again...
sunday...
is just a continuation of saturday around here. i think that if i can get one thing started and completed, i'll consider this a successful day. there's so much going on around me, but i can't seem to really focus on any one thing. (this isn't a whine or complaint, my darlings, just a statement of facts as i see them.) i do have a list of things i'd like to accomplish this week, but i'll spare you that domestic trivia. (yes, i'm still working on the upstairs space.) (sigh)
work is a bit more interesting, but sadly, i can't share that project with you. so, why am i even telling y'all that i can't? because, if y'all have come to any understanding of my psyche, y'all know, as i write, i'm cogitating/formulating/processing information and/or how to acquire the same. in my defense, i did just get the assignment today. so, right now, i'm also in the thoughtful procrastination stage.
so, are you seeing the connection?
yep, that's it. a list of projects/chores will get done today because i'm thinking about how to get my real work done...i'm might come back today and fill all y'all in on my progress.
or lack thereof.
~~~~~UPDATE of sorts~~~~~
so, not much to report. i've read the papers, read a few of y'alls blogs, washed dishes, made more coffee...and started my real work! yes, darlings, i have a plan of action now. and we know what that means, don't we? yes, it's true, i no longer have to procrastinate/delay by doing filler gigs. i can just watch movies ( i love netflix) without a care in the world! (ok, i still have to fix supper.)
