just a thought

the past few weeks have seen me coming and going. leaving comments everywhere, but not answering any on my own site. what can i say? sometimes, ok, most times, i am overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness, and yes, even when it comes to the directionality of toilet paper, how adept and funny all of you can be. my impoverished attempts at humor/humour absolutely fade and yes, wither, when compared to the words all of you leave.

or maybe, i just crack up too much when i read your comments to respond. it's true, ask the MITM (yeah, i read them out loud to him from my email.)

anyway, i love reading what you write, the MITM loves how witty y'all are AND, y'all may not know this, but all y'all have made some really, really, really bad times around here bearable.

i like to tell the people i care about how much i cherish them when they least expect it, so know that i love all of you very much and i appreciate you more than all y'all will ever know!

so, there it is.
now you know.
i'm not really rude, just a tiny bit distracted! (but i love all y'all!) xoxoxoxoxox

and

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, cyber pete!!!!! now all y'all know what to do! go wish our pal a good one! xoxoxo

a pictorial explanation for our friends across the pond

under and least likely to stay this way at my house
over and the correct way to dispense toilet paper
yes, it's true. there are a few things that do manage to ignite serious conversation here on the plantation! i hope this explains our uniquely american obsession with toilet paper directionality.

8

1. Why did you start blogging?
because i wanted to tell my own stories and e@l said "get yer own, girlie!" or something like that. seriously, i discovered blogging via waiter rant and from there a blog called "the dog's name" and a blogger called "indiana or indy" he no longer blogs, but i met e@l through him and the rest is blogger history!

2. If you could travel anywhere in the world, with no restrictions on cost, where would it be, and why?
i think, i'd start at the tip of maine (but not in winter) and just visit every state in our union. we're such a vast country filled with such a grand variety of people  with so many different traditions and yet, united by the fact that we're american. i believe so much more unites us as a people than divides us. i refuse to let political rancor ruin my vision of america. besides, i could drive and never have to get on a plane, ok, except for hawaii.

3. Did you have a teacher in school that had a great influence on your life? If so, what?
mrs. patricia whiteside. i was in grammar school, maybe 3rd grade or younger. she gave me a copy of Bambi.  it was the first time an adult other than my mother had given me a hardbound book as a gift. that's when i began my life long love affair with books.

4. If you could spend the day with a famous person, who would it be, and what would you do?
 President Obama. i'd ask why he's apparently caved in to the pressure from the party of sameness and forgotten the party of change. i'd ask him why he isn't taking a bold step and instituting a 21 century WPA (WORKS PROGRESS ADMINISTRATION) under executive order to rebuild our infrastructure as part of national security. i have a few more topics, but generally, i'd want to know WTF happened to the guy i voted for.

5. Toilet paper - over or under?
over, of course. (yeah, and like another blogger, i'm just that obsessive that i change the direction of the roll when it's under!)

6. Name one thing in your life that you would do over if possible.
not one thing and only because any small change has ripple effects in the big pool of life.  now there might be a few dumbass things i might not have done, but that's not what you asked.

7. Tell us about your pets, if any.
do houseplants count? if not, then, no, i have no pets.

8. Do you live in a small town or a large town?
 small town compared to la or nyc or atl, but large when compared to forsyth, ga.

 ~~~~~
this took a little longer than i thought it would or maybe i was just over-thinking everything. so, i'm supposed to tag a few, but i think it's easier if anyone who wants to just does it.
tell me something good!
the verdant dude is sponsoring a contest!
sometimes
check in with your friends when you haven't seen or heard from them.
give a call, send an email, write a letter...you know keep in touch.
i've done it for other friends and today, someone did that for me. sometimes all we need is to know that someone (besides the lovelies we live with and/or are related to) is thinking of us. sometimes, we just need a listening ear or reading eye to just be present in the moment of our need. today a friend listened, passed no judgment and made me laugh.
just what i needed.
i can only hope my friends can say that about me.
yes, yes, i know...
it's been a week.
i have 3 drafts, but i'm not pleased with any of them.
i am working on "8" as requested by brother map. who knew 8 questions could be so difficult to answer? or maybe like kim, i'm in over think mode. i should publish the MITM's answers. he answered without hesitation and articulately!
anyway, i've been commenting and reading, so i guess all y'all figured out i was ok. (i am.)
see y'all soon.
just a little more love in the world
this video always makes me smile. the news this week has just been too much of a downer for me. it's not personal, it's global.
