this week on the plantation

we're away this week. i wish it was for fun. be well, take care and remember to hug the people you care about and to tell them that you love them!

2 dinners

wednesday was local seafood night here on the plantation - a whole grouper baked as the main and fried softshell crabs as a starter. of course, the picture is before we cooked them, the after was just too delicious to waste time taking pictures and the fume blanc was the perfect temperature, so there's no photographic evidence of the MITM's culinary expertise. tonight's dinner was a roast chicken with fennel, carrots and onions, served with baby patty pan squash and zucchini in garlic infused olive oil and butter over rice served with marietta cellars old vine, lot 50. the cook's wine of choice during prep was a lovely benzinger cabernet. (i'd link to the vineyards, but blogger is giving me a hard time.)

don't ask me why i'm doing a food post, but everything just looked so good...why not share?

The Hunt for Red October

my go to movie for a rainy day, a lonely day, a good day, any day that ends in "y" kinda day. why, y'all might be asking? easy peasy - tight script, no gratuitous violence, perfectly chosen music and only one badly matted scene which isn't bad for a movie made in 1990 (i know!). it was also an unintended morality tale that put forth a positive future, when the reality became something far more sinister: the loss of soviet technology and weaponry to unknown criminal elements after the collapse of the soviet union.

yeah, i'm serious about my rainy day movies. second choice(s) would the bourne trilogy.
